The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently released a recommendation urging all healthcare providers, as well as those in training for healthcare professions, to obtain the influenza vaccine annually. These syringes bridge the gap between bulky retro-fitted designs and more expensive automatic retractables. They function like a traditional syringe and are easy to use while administering flu shots, but the devices are engineered with a safety feature integral to the design. After using standard technique to administer a medication dose, the clinician pulls the plunger back, causing the needle to retract inside the barrel.
